Frequently asked questions

Which tests are free?

Black, Grayscale Steps, Color, and Motion are free. Unlock All Tests permanently adds Near Black, Gradient, Near White, Uniformity, and Moving Uniformity through a one-time in-app purchase. There is no subscription. The localized price appears in the app and comes from the store.

Which platforms can I use?

Apple TV requires tvOS 17 or later. Android TV / Google TV requires Android 7.0 or later on a compatible TV device. For the Fire TV build, check the Amazon listing for current availability and device compatibility. See the official store links for regional availability. Roku is in development; no public Roku installation link is provided.

Can PanelCheck calibrate or measure my TV?

No. PanelCheck shows visual patterns; it does not automatically calibrate your TV, change picture settings, measure display performance, diagnose defects, or repair pixels or burn-in. Pattern percentages are encoded sRGB source values, not luminance measurements or verified HDMI codes. Read the pattern guide and technical limitations.

Can I use it offline?

Visual patterns run locally. New purchases and establishing or restoring ownership require access to the relevant store. A fresh offline installation cannot be assumed to have a previous unlock.

How do I restore a purchase?

Use Restore Purchases on the Unlock All Tests screen with the store account used for the original purchase. Ownership is verified by that store. If restoration fails, check your store connection and contact support.

Do I need a PanelCheck account?

No. PanelCheck has no accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking. Test settings are stored locally. Stores process purchases; see the privacy policy for details.

Having a problem?

If PanelCheck isn't behaving as expected, try quitting and reopening the app and confirm that your TV or streaming device and its software are up to date.
