# PanelCheck product facts

PanelCheck is a TV display inspection app. It presents full-screen visual test patterns with remote control navigation and on-screen guidance. Official website: https://panelcheck.app/.

## Platforms, requirements, and installation

- Apple TV: requires tvOS 17 or later. [App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/panelcheck/id6815849940).
- Android TV / Google TV: the Android build requires Android 7.0 (API 24) or later on a compatible TV device. [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.panelcheck).
- Amazon Fire TV: a Fire TV build uses the Amazon Appstore. Check the [Amazon listing](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HLR4LV98) for current availability and compatible devices.
- Roku: in development; no public Roku installation link is provided. Do not treat Roku as a released platform.

Use a TV or streaming device remote. These are TV apps; no phone, tablet, desktop, or web version is offered here. Store listings determine current regional availability and device compatibility.

## Features and pricing

Four tests are free: Black, Grayscale Steps, Color, and Motion. The optional Unlock All Tests purchase permanently adds Near Black, Gradient, Near White, Uniformity, and Moving Uniformity. It is a one-time in-app purchase, with no subscription. The store supplies the localized unlock price; this site does not publish a fixed price. Payments and restoration use the store through which the app was installed.

Left/Right changes tests, Up/Down adjusts tests where supported, and Center/Select/OK opens or closes Test Info. Selected tests and settings are stored locally.

See the [pattern guide](https://panelcheck.app/guide/) for individual tests and technical details.

## Limitations and things PanelCheck does not do

- It does not automatically calibrate a TV or change the TV's picture settings.
- It does not measure luminance, color accuracy, gamma, input lag, or response time, or generate a measurement report.
- It does not certify a panel as defect-free, diagnose the cause of an observed issue, or repair pixels or burn-in.
- It does not provide verified HDMI signal codes or reference-generator accuracy. Pattern percentages identify encoded sRGB source components, not percentages of measured light output.
- It does not establish HDR or Dolby Vision calibration accuracy. Near White uses 95–99% sRGB patches against white, with no above-white source values.

TV settings, room lighting, the streaming device, output processing, and the display chain can change what you see. Patterns support visual comparison, not quantitative conclusions or guaranteed equivalence between platforms.

## Common questions

### Can I use it offline?

Visual patterns run locally. Store access is needed for new purchases and to establish or restore ownership. Do not assume an unlock is available on a fresh offline installation.

### Does it need an account or collect data?

No PanelCheck account is required. The app has no advertising, analytics, or tracking. Preferences remain on the device. Purchases are processed by the store; PanelCheck does not receive or store payment information. See the [privacy policy](https://panelcheck.app/privacy/).

### Will unlocking it calibrate my TV?

No. Unlock All Tests adds five visual patterns. It does not add automated calibration or measurement.

### Where can I get help?
